A Quiet Blessing: Samhain Preparations at the UU Sanctuary

While today’s Ghoul’s Gift of Life Blood Drive didn’t draw the crowd we’d hoped for, all was not lost. In fact, something quietly beautiful unfolded in the sanctuary.

With unexpected free time on their hands, Naheem, Kyle, and Laurelinn turned their energy inward and upward—channeling creativity and intention into updating the altar in the UU sanctuary for Samhain. What began as a quiet moment of reflection blossomed into a deeply spiritual and artistic experience.

The altar now radiates the essence of Samhain: honoring ancestors, embracing transformation, and welcoming the thinning of the veil with reverence and warmth. Candles, seasonal offerings, and symbols of the turning wheel now grace the space, inviting all who enter to pause, reflect, and connect.

Sometimes, when plans shift and crowds disperse, the spirit finds new ways to gather. Today was one of those days—a reminder that even in stillness, there is movement. Even in solitude, there is community.
