About the event
The Perseids are one of the brighter meteor showers of the year. They occur every year between July 17 and August 24 and tend to peak around August 9-13. The peak viewing night for Las Vegas is August 12th - the visibility is listed as excellent this year, with up to 100 meteors per hour!
We will meet in Cold Creek starting at 7:00pm, giving time for everyone to arrive and get set up. Time and Date cites 8:34pm as the nauticle twilight. That's when we'll have opportunity to start seeing the sky show!
Last year was a big success, so we plan to do it again! We will be providing:
Musical accompaniment
Firepit (don't worry - it's propane!)
Coffee
S'mores
Cold Creek is generally 10 degrees cooler than the valley; and can get even cooler once the sun goes down, so we suggest the following checklist:
Chairs
Jacket or blanket
Pack a picnic
Camera
It will be a great way to cool down and get a break from the valley heat! Come join the stargazers!
